Jan Manton Gallery is excited to welcome interdisciplinary performance and installation artist Kellie O'Dempsey to the gallery.
Kellie O’Dempsey creates installations and performances that respond directly to their surroundings — incorporating projection, video, collage, architectural space, gestural line and digital drawing. O’Dempsey’s diverse practice explores, deconstructs, and heightens the shared experience of space in public and domestic settings. Works are created through both solo studio practice and collaboration, with sound artists and contemporary dance practitioners contributing to O'Dempsey's exploration of space, line, colour and play.
O’Dempsey’s public productions enable an inclusive form of cultural interaction. The immersive site installations and performance drawing works invite the audience to engage directly with the visceral process of making. O'Dempsey's past performances include: Art after Dark; Pier 2/3; 18th Biennale of Sydney; MONA FOMA, Hobart; White Night Melbourne; and the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; City of Brisbane's Botanica 2021; as well as the interactive exhibition The Storytellers at the Museum of Brisbane.
Jan Manton Gallery is thrilled to be working with O'Dempsey to realise permanent public and residential interactions of her innovative installations, as well as presenting elements of her collage, drawing and digital practice in an upcoming gallery exhibition.
