Angela Brennan has been selected as a finalist for the 2023 Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize.
The Ravenswood Australian Women's Art Prize—highest value professional artist prize for women in Australia—is an annual acquisitive prize aimed towards advancing art and opportunity for emerging and established women artists in Australia.
Brennan’s work Lounging in the doorway of two worlds at once (again) was selected for the exhibition by acclaimed artist, and Ravenswood Australian Women's Art Prize Patron, Jennifer Turpin.
The Ravenswood Australian Women's Art Prize began in 2017 as an initiative to address the under representation of women artists. Across Australia each year, up to 70% of art school graduates are women. However, when it comes to gallery exhibitions and prizes, women artists represent substantially less than half. The prize provides a platform to inspire, promote and connect women visual artists and assist in the development of emerging, indigenous emerging and professional artists, whilst giving current students opportunities to explore the potential of a career in art.
The finalists will be on exhibition at the Ravenswood School for Girls from 12 - 28 May 2023.
Opening Night: 12 May 2023, 6.00pm-8.30pm (RSVP)
